In August 1998 Basso was the ringleader of a gang who tortured and beat 59-year-old mentally retarded Louis 'Buddy' Musso to death with baseball bats for his life insurance money. Since Texas no longer served last meal requests on death row at the time, Basso ate regular prison fare of baked chicken, fish, boiled eggs, carrots, green beans, and sliced bread.

Murderer Garry Dean Miller is executed by lethal injection at the age of 33 in Huntsville Prison, 815 12th Street, Huntsville, Texas, United States. Miller's last meal were two grilled cheese sandwiches, french fries, ketchup, two boiled eggs, two cinnamon rolls with icing, two cans of grape juice and coffee.
