31 mental patiens Die in hospital fire in Coldharbour Hospital, Sherborne, Dorset, United Kingdom. Eventually the inquiry found the fire had been caused by one of the patients lighting a flame. But the fact that the ward's night nurse and the charge nursed had taken an extended break had allowed the blaze to spread.
