Gerald Rudolph Ford, originally Leslie Lynch King Jr. is attacked by member of the 'Manson Family' Lynette Fromme aka Squeaky at the age of 62 in Capitol Park, south of 1121 L Street, Sacramento, California, United States.

Fromme stood a little more than an arm's length from Ford and pointed a M1911 pistol at him. Her gun failed to fire and no one was injured. Fromme spent 34 years in prison for her assassination attempt and was released on 14 August 2009 – two years and eight months after Ford's death.
