Science fiction writer and professor of biochemistry Isaac Asimov born as Isaak Yudovich Ozimov dies of HIV at the age of 72 in Brooklyn, New York, New York, United States. In December 1983 Asimov had triple bypass surgery during which he contracted HIV from a blood transfusion.
