The fire started when the band Gurizada Fandangueira ignited fireworks during their show. The high death toll was due to the lack of emergency exits (the only access in and out of the building was the front door) and the fact that the number of people inside exceeded the maximum capacity by hundreds.

Roberta Kathleen Parks is bludgeoned to death by serial killer Ted Bundy aka The Only Living Witness at the age of 20 in Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, United States.

Parks' skull was later found on Taylor Mountain. Bundy confessed to her murder shortly before his execution.
