In July Innocentius VIII fell into a fever. He was said to have been given the world's first blood transfusion by his Jewish physician Giacomo di San Genesio, who had him bathe in the blood of three 10-year-old boys. The boys subsequently died.

 Serial killer Jürgen Bartsch aka Der Kirmesmörder is born as Karl-Heinz Sadrozinski in Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Bartsch was an illegitimate child whose birth mother died of tuberculosis soon afterward, and he spent the first months of his life being cared for by nurses. At 11 months he was adopted by a butcher and his wife in Langenberg, who gave him the name Jürgen Bartsch. |
