Elsas had spent a marked 250 Gulden bill from ransom money for Gerrit Jan Heijn in liquor store Dirck III in the Kamperfoelieweg in Amsterdam and was later caught on camera. Elsas had shot Heijn dead on the day of the kidnapping, 9 September 1987.

Glenda Beth Spraker Goff is shot in the head by serial killer Henry Lee Lucas aka The Hand of Death at the age of 19 in Houston Baptist University, Sharpstown, Houston, Texas, United States.

Goff's body was found 13 September north of Bellville.
