Weaver escaped while under guard at Marianna Hospital in Florida and killed 3 people, including Deputy Sheriff Aaron Creel and Deputy Allen Fench on the way. His terrified 14-year-oid hostage Ricky Hale grabbed Weaver's pistol and shot him four more times as he slumped dying over the beginnings of a foxhole he was trying to dig.

40-year-old self-proclaimed prophet and cult leader Jeffrey Lundgren aka The Volunteer is arrested with his wife Alice Keeler and his son Damon in Santa Fe Motel, National City, California, United States. In the next days 10 more members of his cult are arrested. They were charged with the murder of the Avery family of five on 10 April 1989 in Kirtland, Ohio.
