He closed this message with "I look forward without dogmatic optimism but without dread. I love you all and I deeply implore you to keep the lasagna flying. Please pardon my levity, I don't see how to take death seriously. It seems absurd."

Laurence Guillaume is raped and strangled by serial killer Francis Heaulme aka The Emmaus Murderer aka Le Routard du Crime at the age of 14 in Metz, Lorraine, France.

In this murder Heaulme was accompanied by the 19-year-old cousin of the victim Michel Guillaume, whom he had met less than an hour earlier at the fair in Metz. Guillaume was convicted of rape and complicity in the murder and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
