Mauriot’s left breast and pubis had been removed. Her 25-year-old lover Jean Michel Kraveichvili was killed a short distance away from the tent while trying to escape. The killer sent a taunting note, along with a piece of Mauriot's breast to state prosecutor Silvia della Monica stating that a murder had taken place and challenging local authorities to find the victims. It was the last known murder by Il Mostro.

51-year-old film director Kenneth Anger, originally Kenneth Wilbur Anglemeyer is mugged in the doorway of his building in Apartment 9, 354 East 91st Street, New York, New York, United States. Anger was knocked out for about 1 1/2 hour and stitched up in Metropolitan Hospital.
