43-year-old heart patient Arne Larsson receives the first pacemaker implanted by cardiac surgeon Åke Senning in Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, Stockholm, Södermanland, Sweden. Larsson lived for another forty-three years and during that time went through twenty-six pacemakers. The first device lasted only a few hours. |
