On 15 March Oberholtzer was savagely raped by The Grand Dragon of the Realm of the Indiana Ku-Klux-Klan, David Curtis Stephenson. An examination of Oberholtzer's body later revealed deep bite wounds were on her face, neck, breasts, back, legs, ankles, and tongue. She died from a staph infection from the bites plus kidney failure from the mercury poisoning.

39-year-old mathematician and serial bomber Theodore Kaczynski aka The Unabomber leaves Bomb #5 in University of Utah Bennion Hall Business Building, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. A student discovered the package and alerted the campus police. The campus police worried it might be bomb and brought in the Salt Lake City Police. Their bomb squad x-rayed the package, confirmed it was a bomb and disabled it with a small explosive charge.
