Giffard had beaten his 53-year-old father Charles and mother Elizabeth to death with a lead pipe on 7 November 1952. Giffard took the bodies and tipped them over the cliff at the end of the garden and then got in the car and drove to see his girlfriend in London.

Triple murderer Christopher Black is executed by lethal injection at the age of 44 in Huntsville Prison, 815 12th Street, Huntsville, Texas, United States. Black's final meal request was for one steak (medium well), fried chicken (wings and thighs), French fries, mushroom gravy, mixed steamed vegetables, chocolate fudge cake, peach cobbler, sweet tea, bread, and chef salad with Italian dressing.
