30-year-old Irish republican hunger striker Joe McDonnel, originally Seosamh Mac Domhnaill starts hungerstriking in Maze Prison, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. McDonnel went 61 days without food before dying on 8 July 1981.
