18th President of the French Republic Charles André Joseph Marie De Gaulle dies of a ruptured blood vessel at the age of 80 in La Boisserie, Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, Haute-Marne, France. De Gaulle had been watching the evening news on television and playing Solitaire around 7.40 p.m. when he suddenly pointed to his neck and said "I feel a pain right here" and collapsed.
