Marxist revolutionary, guerrilla leader and military theorist Ernesto Che Guevara is executed by 31-year-old Mario Terán at the age of 39 in La Higuera, Santa Cruz, Bolivia. In all Guevara was shot nine times by Terán. This included five times in his legs once in the right shoulder and arm, once in the chest and finally in the throat.
