Wilhelm Friedrich Horst Meyer and his friend Jens Uwe Rüsch is shot dead by unidentified serial killer Il Mostro di Firenze at the age of 24 in Galluzzo, Firenze, Toscana, Italy.

Both seniors at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Osnabrück, traveling in Italy to celebrate an important scholarship Meyer had just won. Rüsch's long blond hair and his small build could have deceived the killer into thinking he was a female.
