Just before the miscarriage the foetal heartbeat was recorded and included in Lennon and Ono's 1969 album 'Life with the Lions' followed by two minutes' silence. The unborn child was named John Ono Lennon II and was buried by the couple in a secret location. It was later claimed that Ono's miscarriage was caused by the stress of their October drugs bust and subsequent arrest. (21 November 1968)

Sunday 1st of May 1960 (x) — A Lockheed U-2 spy aircraft with United States Air Force pilot Francis Gary Powers on board is shot down by the first of three SA-2 Guideline (S-75 Dvina) surface-to-air missiles fired by a battery commanded by Mikhail Voronov. Powers was convicted of espionage and sentenced to three years imprisonment and seven years hard labor but would be released two years later on 10 February 1962 during a prisoner exchange for Soviet officer Rudolf Abel.
