Tchou-Li’s death was captured on film and the images famously captivated Georges Bataille for the expression of seeming ecstasy on the face of the dying man.

Lianrong's victims were 24-year-old Limei Qi, 22-year-old Jiang Xue Jin, 17-year-old MA Yu Wang, 20-year-old Wusheng Dan, 20-year-old Xu Huijuan, 22-year-old Xiaomei Fang, 21-year-old Sui Flower and 24-year-old Xue Chu Ying.

On 17 May Mei was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all, the feeding tube was wrongly inserted causing serious injuries. After she returned to her cell she had a headache and started to vomit blood, lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness again. Mei was the 19th Falun Gong member to die in police custody.
