During a stroll on the walkway Wobber took off his coat and vest, threw them to a passer-by and declared "This is where I get off. I'm going to jump." After his death newspapers reported Wobber was a victim of shell shock and had been under mental health treatment. It was the first suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge, just a little over three months past its opening. (7 August 1937)

Monday 13th of July 1970 (x) — Murderer and cannibal Stanley Dean Baker is arrested with Harry Allen Stroup carrying in his pocket the fingers of 22-year-old James Schlosser, whom he killed, cut out the heart and ate it. Baker had both a recipe for LSD and a copy of The Satanic Bible in his possession. He readily confessed involvement in the accident, startling police as he added "I have a problem. I'm a cannibal."
