Problems began when a fire started in a rear lavatory. Prior to the forced landing many of the passengers had already died of carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation. A possible cause of the fire was that the lavatory waste bin contents caught fire after a lit cigarette was thrown into it. There were 11 survivors. (11 July 1973)

Friday 14th of April 1989 (x) — Mass murderer Ramón Salcido kills six members of his family and a coworker. The victims were his 24-year-old wife Ángela, his 4-year-old daughter Sofía, his 1-year-old daughter Teresa, his 47-year-old mother in law Marion Louise Richards, her 12-year-old daughter Ruth, her 8-year-old daughter Maria and 35-year-old winemaster at Grand Cru winery Tracey Toovey.
