The flight was designed and marketed as a unique sightseeing experience, carrying an experienced Antarctic guide who pointed out scenic features and landmarks using the aircraft public-address system, while passengers enjoyed a low-flying sweep of McMurdo Sound. Friday 26th of April 1901 (-) — Outlaw and murderer Tom Ketchum is executed by hanging. Nobody in Clayton had any experience in conducting hangings, the rope was too long and since Ketchum had gained a significant amount of weight during his time in jail he was decapitated when he dropped through the trap door.
