It took medical staff more than 50 minutes to find a suitable vein in Rector's arm. Witnesses were not permitted to view this scene but reported hearing Rector's loud moans throughout the process. During the ordeal Rector (who suffered serious brain damage from a lobotomy) tried to help the medical personal find a vein. (24 January 1992)

Haigh then lured the doctor's 41-year-old wife Rosalie Henderson to his workhop and killed her as well.
Friday 18th of February 1949 (-) — Victim of John George Haigh aka The Acid Bath Murderer Olive Durand-Deacon is shot in the head by John George Haigh aka The Acid Bath Murderer. Haigh stripped Durand-Deacon of her valuables, including a Persian lamb coat and put her into a sulphuric acid bath. Investigation of the sludge at the workshop by the pathologist Keith Simpson revealed three human gallstones and part of a denture which was later identified by Mrs Durand-Deacon's dentist during the trial and conviction.
