Young was the first person in the records executed for witchcraft in the United States. Young was symbolically exonerated on 6 February 2017 by a Windsor Town Council resolution, along with Lydia Gilbert, the second Connecticut woman to be executed for witchcraft. (26 May 1647)

Monday 23rd of February 1885 (x) — Murderer John Lee is brought upon the scaffold three times to be hanged but the trapdoor refuses to open upon each attempt despite being carefully tested by executioner James Berry. Lee continued to petition successive Home Secretaries and was finally released in 1907.
Wednesday 18th of December 1907 (x) — Murderer John Lee is released from prison. On 23 February 1885 three attempts were made to carry out Lee's execution. All ended in failure as the trapdoor of the scaffold failed to open despite being carefully tested by executioner James Berry beforehand. As a result Home Secretary Sir William Harcourt commuted the sentence to life imprisonment.
