Kennedy extricated himself from the vehicle and survived but Kopechne did not. Kennedy failed to report the incident to the authorities until the car and Kopechne's body were discovered the next morning. A week after the incident Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury and received a two-month suspended sentence. (18 July 1969)

Monday 8th of March 1993 (-) — Victim of Colin Ireland aka The Gay Slayer Peter Walker is suffocated by a plastic bag by Colin Ireland aka The Gay Slayer. The day after the murder Ireland called a journalist from The Sun newspaper that he had murdered Walker. He told them he wanted to become famous for being a serial killer.
