Monday 27th of February 1730 (x) — Start of the trial against Soldier and adventurer Francis Charteris for the rape of Anne Bond on 10 November 1729
The jury quickly found Charteris guilty. On 2 March, he was sentenced to death and held in Newgate Prison. On 10 April 1730 after a substantial campaign to pardon Charteris, joined by Anne Bond, King George II granted him a royal pardon.

Friday 22nd of May 1896 (x) — Baby farm murderess Amelia Dyer pleads guilty to the murder of 4-months-old Doris Marmon
It took the jury only four and a half minutes to find Dyer guilty. There is little doubt she was responsible for many more similar deaths - possibly 400 or more - over a period of perhaps 20 years.
