Meaker was the first woman to be legally executed in Vermont. On the morning of her execution Meaker ate a large beefsteak, three potatoes, a slice of bread and butter, a piece of meat pie, and a cup of coffee. Then she went to view the gallows and remarked that it was not half as bad as she thought it would be. She ate a lunch consisting of two boiled eggs, two slices of toast, one potato, one doughnut, and a cup of coffee. (30 March 1883)

Thursday 24th of October 1957 (-) — Fashion designer Christian Dior dies of a heart attack. Some reports say that Dior died of a heart attack after choking on a fish bone. Time's obituary stated that he died of a heart attack after playing a game of cards. However, the Paris socialite Baron de Redé wrote in his memoirs that contemporary rumor was that Dior's heart attack had been caused by a strenuous sexual encounter with two young men.
