Friday 30th of September 1955 (-) — Actor James Dean dies in a head-on car crash in his Porsche 550 Spyder.
Dean crashed into 23-year-old Cal Poly student Donald Turnupseed who made a left turn onto Route 41 in a 1950 Ford Tudor. Dean had been extricated from the Spyder's mangled cockpit, his left foot having been crushed between the clutch and brake pedal, leaving him severely injured from the crash with a broken neck and several internal and external injuries.
