51 railway wagons carrying sulfur, fertilizer, petrol and cotton wool broke loose from their siding at Abu Muslim Station and rolled down the track for about 20 kilometres until they derailed and rolled down an embankment. During the cleanup operation the cargo of the wagons exploded. (18 February 2004)

Thursday 21st of January 1999 (x) — Serial killer Gerald Parker is sentenced to death by lethal injection plus life without possibility of parole plus 64 years in prison. In 1978 and 1979 Parker raped and murdered five women. He also attacked a sixth woman who was pregnant, she survived but her child was stillborn.
