At 9am Verlaine went to No. 11 of the Galerie de la Reine to obtain a weapon and ammunition from the gunsmith Montigny. In an English tavern located at No. 7 rue des Chartreux, he conscientiously closed a few glasses of absinthe, before finding Rimbaud at the hotel on rue des Brasseurs, where he exhibited his loaded weapon. Around noon, the two friends went to empty a few chopines at the Maison des Brasseurs located in Grand-Place and then returned to their homes. Rimbaud his decision to leave Verlaine was inevitable. Exasperated by such determination Verlaine locked the door of the room and shot at close range at Rimbaud, whom he injured his left wrist. (10 July 1873)

In 1978 and 1979 Parker raped and murdered five women. He also attacked a sixth woman who was pregnant, she survived but her child was stillborn.
