Friday 29th of July 1938 (-) — Mary Carpenter dies of Spontaneous Human Combustion. Mrs Carpenter's ignition took place in full view of her husband and children. She was engulfed in in flames and reduced to a charred corpse in minutes. No one else was burned and the boat was undamaged.
