Friday 30th of March 1883 (-) — Murderess Emeline Meaker is executed by hanging Meaker was the first woman to be legally executed in Vermont. On the morning of her execution Meaker ate a large beefsteak, three potatoes, a slice of bread and butter, a piece of meat pie, and a cup of coffee. Then she went to view the gallows and remarked that it was not half as bad as she thought it would be. She ate a lunch consisting of two boiled eggs, two slices of toast, one potato, one doughnut, and a cup of coffee.
