Hughes was strangled and his body left on Dahmer's bedroom floor for three days before being dismembered, with Dahmer photographing the dismemberment process. At his trial Dahmer said Hughes lost his life due to the “foreseeable but unintended consequences of the drilling technique.” (24 May 1991)
