Computer programmer and businessman John David McAfee known for McAfee VirusScan commits suicide by hanging in his cell at the age of 76 in Centre Penitenciari Brians 2, Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, Spain.

McAfee was arrested in Spain over tax evasion charges on 6 October 2020. The charges were announced shortly after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission revealed that it had brought civil charges against McAfee and that he could face 30 years in prison if convicted in the criminal matter.
