Emms was the first victim of Erskine. She was in bed with the bedclothes pulled up to her chin. When the doctor first examined her he thought she had been dead for about three days and as he had no reason to suspect otherwise he was happy to sign the death certificate to say she had died of natural causes.

Bomb attack by Radical left organisation the Weather Underground to protest the killing of 29 inmates at Attica State Penitentiary on 13 September in New York Department of Corrections, 1220 Washington Ave #9, Albany, New York, United States. The Weathermen communique accompanying the attack called the prison system an example of 'how a society run by white racists maintains its control' with white supremacy being the 'main question white people have to face'.
