According to one story while Pope Clemens V's body was lying in state a thunderstorm developed during the night and lightning struck the church where his body lay, igniting the building. The fire was so intense that when it was extinguished, the body of Pope Clement V was almost destroyed.

Deedeh Goodarzi is strangled and cut to pieces by serial killer Richard Cottingham aka The Torso Killer at the age of 22 in Travel Inn Motor Hotel, 515 West 42nd Street, New York City, New York, United States.

Cottingham removed the heads and hands of Goodarzi and another unidentified woman and doused the bodies with lighter fluid and set them alight.
