Davison entered the race track in order to attach the Women's Social and Political Union flag to Anmer, so that when the horse crossed the finishing line it would be flying the WSPU flag. Davison died four days later in Epsom Cottage Hospital due to a fractured skull and internal injuries caused by the incident.

230 Die in tank truck explosion and fire in Sange, South Kivu, Congo. The truck overturned and an explosion occurred as villagers attempted to collect the fuel that was spilling from the overturned vehicle.
