Fields born as William Claude Dukenfield dies of alcohol-related gastric hemorrhage at the age of 66 in Las Encinas Sanatorium, 2900 E Del Mar Blvd, Pasadena, California, United States. Carlotta Monti wrote that in Fields' final moments she used a garden hose to spray water onto the roof over his bedroom to simulate his favorite sound of falling rain.
