    Murderess Emeline Lucy Meaker is executed by hanging at the age of 45 in State Prison, 546 State Farm Road, Windsor, Vermont, United States.

    Meaker was the first woman to be legally executed in Vermont. On the morning of her execution Meaker ate a large beefsteak, three potatoes, a slice of bread and butter, a piece of meat pie, and a cup of coffee. Then she went to view the gallows and remarked that it was not half as bad as she thought it would be. She ate a lunch consisting of two boiled eggs, two slices of toast, one potato, one doughnut, and a cup of coffee.
