Nobbs awoke the next morning with little recollection of the previous evening's events, and later went to see his doctor because of some bruising that had appeared on his neck. The doctor revealed that it appeared as if he had been strangled, and advised him to go to the police. Nobbs was concerned about what would happen if his sexual predilections were to be disclosed, and chose not to report the attack.

EgyptAir Flight 648 Boeing 737 is hijacked by three Palestinian members of the terrorist organization Abu Nidal shortly after takeoff from Athens Ellinikon International Airport in Greece and forced to land in Luqa Airport, Gudja, Reġjun Nofsinhar, Malta.

The subsequent raid on the aircraft by Egyptian troops resulted in 60 deaths, including two terrorists. 22-year-old terrorist leader Omar Mohammed Ali Rezaq, who was injured during the storming of the aircraft, had removed his hood and ammunition and pretended to be an injured passenger. Egyptian commandos tracked Rezaq to St. Luke's General Hospital and, holding the doctors and medical staff at gunpoint, entered the casualty ward looking for him. Rezaq was arrested when some of the passengers in the hospital recognized him.

125 die in Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 Boeing 767-200ER crash into the ocean in Le Galawa Beach, Mitsamiouli, Grande Comore, Comoros.

The airplane had been hijacked by three Ethiopians seeking asylum in Australia and finally crashed due to fuel exhaustion. The hijackers were Alemayehu Bekeli Belayneh, Mathias Solomon Belay and Sultan Ali Hussein. 125 of the 175 passengers and crew on board, including the three hijackers, died. Many passengers died because they inflated their life jackets in the cabin, causing them to be trapped inside by the rising water. A tourist recorded a video of the crash. She said that she had begun taping because she initially believed that the 767 formed a part of an air show for tourists.
