Guardsman Cassius Chaerea stabbed Caligula first, followed by a number of conspirators.

Artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani dies of tubercular meningitis due to execessive alcohol and drug abuse at the age of 36 in Hôpital de la Charité, Paris, VIe, Île-de-France, France.

When Modigliani died his twenty-one-year-old fiencée Jeanne Hébuterne was eight months pregnant with their second child. A day later Hébuterne was taken to her parents' home. There, inconsolable, she threw herself out of a fifth-floor window, killing herself and their unborn child.

During the ordeal Rector (who suffered serious brain damage from a lobotomy) tried to help the medical personal find a vein.
