Garfield is executed by hanging at the age of 41 in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Guiteau notoriously danced his way to the gallows and shook hands with his executioner. On the scaffold, as a last request, he recited a poem called "I am Going to the Lordy" which he had written during his incarceration. He had originally requested an orchestra to play as he sang his poem but this request was denied. |

(x) 58 Years Ago Today He Could Do Nothing but Crouch DownThursday 30th of June 1966 After a fire at the home of one of his bosses, the bodies of the executive, his wife, and two children were found all stabbed to death, presumed by 30-year-old Boxer and presumed mass murderer Iwao Hakamada in Yūtō, Shizuoka, Japan. Hakamada was interrogated and in August 1966 he was arrested based on his confession and a tiny amount of blood and gasoline found on a pair of pajamas he owned. According to his lawyers, Hakamada was interrogated a total of 264 hours for as many as 16 hours a session over 23 days to obtain the confession. They added that he was denied water or toilet breaks during the interrogation. "I could do nothing but crouch down on the floor trying to keep from defecating," Hakamada later told his sister. |

After an argument with his mother about sending him to a boarding school Jenkins bludgeoned his parents and grandparents to death with a hammer. Inexplicably, somehow he kept Megan from discovering the carnage. The next morning Jenkins took her with him to buy an axe which he used to kill her once they returned to the condo. |
